Forest Acres has its own rhythm, mature trees shading quiet streets, older homes with character, and neighbors who actually wave when you drive by. The lawn ties all of that together. When the grass turns thin, weedy, or bare under those shade trees, it can make the whole property look tired, even if you’re doing your best to keep up.
Between tree roots, clay-heavy soil, and summer heat, Forest Acres lawns need more than an occasional mow.
Many Forest Acres yards sit under big trees, which is great for shade but tough on grass. Roots compete for water and nutrients, and soil compacts over time. We use seasonally timed fertilization that feeds at the root level, helping turf thicken, deepen its roots, and stay greener even when the weather swings.
You've probably seen crabgrass along the sidewalk, clover sneaking into thin spots, and broadleaf weeds appearing after a rainy week. We combine pre-emergent treatments to stop many weeds before they sprout with post-emergent applications for the ones that slip through, all matched to your grass type and the mix of sun and shade in your yard.
Between tree roots, foot traffic, and years of mowing, Forest Acres soil can feel like it's locked up. Mechanical core aeration pulls out small plugs of soil, opening channels so water, oxygen, and nutrients can move down where the roots live. Follow that with overseeding at the right time of year, and worn-out areas have a chance to fill in instead of staying bare.
If one part of your lawn always struggles, even when you're watering and mowing correctly, grubs or other turf pests may be behind it. We inspect those spots, look for specific patterns of damage, and use targeted treatments to protect the grass without over-treating the entire yard.
Sometimes the lawn isn't responding because the soil is simply too acidic. When testing shows your Forest Acres soil's pH is off, we may recommend lime so your grass can actually use the nutrients it's getting.
With warm summers, mild winters, and plenty of tree cover, warm-season grasses tend to do well in Forest Acres.
Some homeowners also incorporate Tall Fescue in specific areas, especially where more shade is present, though it needs extra care in the hottest months.
